Laura guided Happy Hill Farm's Cedric to the win in Sunday's
$150,000 CN U.S. Open CSIO 4* over fifty-five starters and six in
the jump off at WEF.
The difficult course of 14 numbered obstacles and 17 jumping
efforts, designed by Guilherme Jorge of Brazil did not see a clear
round until the 28th horse in the jumping order. The demanding,
twisty eight jump short course ended with a long gallop home, and
Laura took full advantage of Cedric's agility and speed to cross
the finish line in a blazing 48.01 seconds. Laura said that she
"had never gone that fast on him EVER" and it was terrifying, but
Cedric was fantastic!
This is only the second grand prix that the pair has won, since
Laura is usually riding Cedric in Nation's Cups and selection
trials. Laura said that "for a change, it was really fun to get to
run flat out and win a class".
Laura is thrilled with the win and Cedric's performance: "I am so
pleased with him. He's come such a long way over the past year.
He's such a pleasure to ride. He doesn't have the issues he used to
with the water and the walls. Now, he gets right down to business.
I just wish Peter had been there to see him go".
Congratulations to Laura, Cedric, Happy Hill Farm, and the rest of
the team!
